Profit Maker® is a composite of British and European inputs including:

Angus,
Red Angus
Simmental
Gelbvieh
South Devon.

The breed combines the fleshing ability, marbling and moderate size of the British breeds with the muscle, milk and growth of the European breeds. Since 1995 Rissington Cattle Company have sold over 3,500 Profit Maker® bulls into the New Zealand cattle industry including beef and dairy.

Originally developed by the Leachman Cattle Company in the United States of America, the selection of breeds that contribute to this composite are based on research by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) at the Meat Animal Research Centre located in Clay Centre, Nebraska.

Several resident stud sires including Rissington Bullseye 135159, Rissington Big Gene 121293 & Rissington Forefront 121599 have performed at the top end of the Beef+Lamb NZ Progeny test scheme against other bulls from NZ, Australia and the USA.

The Profit Maker® composite has been used successfully in the dairy industry over the last 20 years and complement the NZ dairy cow, be it Crossbred or Friesian to optimise the opportunity of rearing and growing out of the calves.

Rissington Profit Maker® bulls are fully recorded and selected through the Leachman Global Analysis which is one of the largest across-breed cattle evaluation systems in the world with over 1,000,000 animals contributing to the database from North America, Australia, United Kingdom, France and New Zealand.

This analysis evaluates the predicted performance of these sires across a number of purebred and composite populations.

This selection method makes them quite unique when compared to the traditional within breed evaluations that are run in New Zealand, which prevents the comparison of bulls from other breeds.
