I’m Kate Good, and I farm and live in Taranaki.
I have Bachelor in Agri Commerce from Massey University, with a focus on international business, agronomy, and farm management. My career so far, spans roles with LIC, Ballance Agri nutrients and Pamu. These three roles have meant I have a strong foundation in animal management, nutrient cycles, and agronomy. I love anything based around assurance, environment, agronomy, and any big picture strategy ideas. My partner and I own 400-hectare sheep and beef property in Stratford and previously I have been 50/ 50 and Variable Order Sharemilking. I have an eight-year-old son who loves rugby. Any spare time I get is out and about with him and on the farm!
What do I offer the farmers I work with?
I became a FarmWise consultant because although New Zealand as a whole is a great place to farm, nothing beats Taranaki. We have the best soil, climate and farmers and I want to ensure that we farm viably for future generations.
Farmers face many challenges in their day-to-day work and over time, farming has gotten more complex. I enjoy helping clients overcome those present-day challenges while also future proofing against tomorrows. My approach is to get out on farm and understanding the challenges that my clients have by putting myself in their shoes. Our number one aim is to know what we have on farm and convert it to production and leave the environment and the asset in a better shape than we found it. I’m people focussed and my number one goal is making lives easier.
