LIC services during COVID-19 Alert Level 2

View changes to our service delivery to reduce the risk of COVID-19 to farmers and our people as we continue to operate as an Essential Service.

LIC’s call centre remains open with reduced hours of operation. We apologise in advance if you are on hold longer than usual. Please be assured our team is working hard to take as many calls as possible.

LIC is continuing to monitor Government updates on New Zealand’s COVID-19 alert level status and we will resume our normal hours of operation as soon as able. We appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Our herd testing services are continuing however our herd test assist service has been removed from both herringbone and rotary cow sheds to eliminate any possible LIC staff contact with farm staff during herd tests. 

The herd test services are also now fully self-sampled 

Cancellations - If you are restricting entry to your property at this time and need to cancel your herd test, no cancellation penalty will apply. 

Bookings - Farmers seeking a herd test can book this service on 0800 837 843 (0800 TEST HD) or email and our staff will drop off testing equipment and collect it at an agreed time without any physical contact. 

Pre-calls implemented - There will be a pre-call made to all pre-booked herd tests to confirm you are comfortable with all aspects of the herd test delivery. Read more on the Importance and value of herd testing and animal health testing at this time of year.

All Animal Health Testing associated with our Herd Testing will continue with strict adherence to our hygiene and physical distancing protocols. Our turnaround times may be affected during this time. We will contact you if this is the case.

Our Field Assist Service, temporarily suspended during Alert Level 4, has resumed with new operating procedures to keep our farmers and our people safe. 

The Field Assist team will ring all farmers before going on farm and take them through a short questionnaire to determine if there are any risks to their visit to either party.

LIC Automation service staff are delivering safe upgrades and limited installations following conversations with farmers about minimising and identifying potential health risks on farm for both parties. 

Automation sales staff are able to conduct shed migration system observations following these same requirements.

FarmWise consultants are continuing to appraise farms but only on their own, without any engagement with the host farmer. 

All farmer engagement will be completed following by phone or email with no in-person farmer contact. 

All LIC Shop services are continuing to operate as normal

On farm visits by LIC Agri Managers and our automation sales team are on hold however both teams are available to field farmer calls and assist through their normal phone and email contacts.

LIC’s artificial breeding service has been confirmed as an Essential Service and is being delivered with a heightened focus on hygiene and safety protocols to ensure the safety of farmers and our AB technicians and deliver positive mating outcomes.
