Delivering our essential services during COVID-19

It is critical that we continue to deliver important services to you during this time, and in the safest possible manner.

We are in a fortunate position where the majority of our services are deemed essential and can therefore continue to operate during heightened COVID-19 Alert Levels under strict safety protocols.

All staff working in essential services on-site and delivering essential services on-farm will continue operating under strict safety protocols. Although our staff are working in a different way, we will do our best to provide a business-as-usual service to you this Spring.

Our key priorities as we head into our peak operational period are keeping you safe, our staff safe and our business operating so we can continue delivering our products and services to you during this critical time on-farm.

What you can expect to see from us out in the field and on-farm:

  • Masks: LIC staff continue to wear masks at all times while indoors (including on farm visits) and when 2m physical distancing cannot be maintained outside. If you’d prefer our team wear a mask on your farm at all times, please request this of our team.
  • Physical distancing: Please support our staff as they work hard to deliver services to you and help them maintain 2 metre physical distancing on-farm.
  • Heightened hygiene measures: Our staff are equipped to be extra vigilant with hand washing.
  • QR code scanning: If you have a QR code displayed, our staff will scan in on arrival.

Our staff behind the scenes (in our labs and herd test depots) are following these protocols too and we have implemented split shifts and workplace bubbles. A growing number of our team are also fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

How our services are currently operating

  • In our peak AB period in late October we will be processing, dispatching and inseminating around 100,000 straws a day.
  • Our AB products and services are essential and continue under strict safety protocols.
  • This includes AB pre-runs where your AB tech will contact you to organise a time to visit your farm to go over your mating plan, farm biosecurity (boot wash stations, shed entry and exit) and any on-farm health and safety issues they need to be aware of.
  • If possible, please avoid any last-minute changes to your mating plan, particularly late synchrony plans, as these will be increasingly difficult to deliver to your satisfaction with limited lead times. We are committed to working closely with you to get timely visibility of your intent.

  • Our herd test service is essential and will continues under strict safety protocols.
  • This season is shaping up to be our busiest herd testing season yetOur first peak in September will see us process around 508,000 samples a week.

  • These services continue in our labs under our strict safety protocols.
  • We are hoping there won’t be any service delivery impacts from COVID-19 however we are experiencing delays in receiving wet tissue sampling unit (TSU) stock from overseas due to COVID related logistical challenges. Please bear with us while we work through this and we’ll continue to keep those of you impacted by this updated.

  • Agri Managers resume farm visits at Alert Level 2.
  • If you’d prefer not to have a visit, the team can support your needs on the phone, via email and can also set up an online meeting with you.

  • Our CEC staff continue to operate from home and are available weekdays 8am – 4pm on 0800 264 632.
  • You can also email your queries through to minda@lic.co.nz.
  • Please understand there may be delays in response, but the team will be working to get back to you as soon as they can.
  • If you need help with MINDA, you might be able to find your answer in one of our MINDA how-to guides.

  • These services have resumed in line with our strict safety protocols – this includes wearing masks, heightened hygiene measures and physical distancing.
  • Please help our Field Assists maintain 2m physical distancing by having your animals appropriately yarded ready for when they visit.

If you have any questions about LIC services, please don’t hesitate to contact your Agri Manager.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
