LIC is a dairy farmer owned cooperative providing a diverse range of products and services to the dairy industry in New Zealand. Our genetics are in demand around the world by farmers wanting efficient, fertile, highly productive cows.
Our origins date back to the early 1900s when farmers joined together to compare and improve the production of their herds. Over the past 100+ years we have been privileged to introduce world breaking technologies and science that has changed the dairy industry.
These advances see New Zealand herds with some of the highest rates of genetic gain in the world. Kiwi farmers also enjoy a level of herd and management insight only possible from one of the highest rates of voluntary herd improvement in the world.
LIC’s head office is at Newstead in the Waikato and we have regional bases across New Zealand with branches in Australia, the United Kingdom and Ireland plus agencies in South America, United States, Asia and South Africa.
Our revenue is in excess of $170 million per annum and the company has consistently delivered net surpluses that exceed our strategic objectives. All LIC profit is returned to our 10,500 New Zealand dairy farmer owners/shareholders in either products, research and development or dividends.
Our purpose is to help dairy farmers become more productive and profitable through superior dairy cow performance, information and technology that makes it easier to farm.
Our two key strategic themes are superior dairy cow performance and better decisions on farm.
We aim to deliver an exceptional experience to our customers through a high performance culture, innovation and technology leadership.
We are a values driven organisation, each member of the team committed to demonstrating the following values which align with those of our farmer customers -
